Anita has been “accused” by those who know her best, of being an “education junkie.” To this, she pleads “guilty.” Her passion is to empower women, wherever in their journey they are, at a time in their lives when self-doubt and disempowerment are the most common experience. She also believes that the way babies are conceived, carried and brought into the world MATTERS: to the mothers, the fathers, and most of all, to the babies. It is this passion that drives her to continue studying the science and refining her skills to her clients’ benefit. Anita comes to the Birth Education Center after over twenty years in the birth community of Sacramento, where she was first trained as birth doula (then referred to as “labor companion”) in 1992. Then she added childbirth education in 1999 and HypnoBirthing in 2000. In the year 2006, she earned her bachelor’s degree in Maternal/Child Health: Lactation Consulting, and sat for the IBLCE boards that same year. Since then, she has served hundreds of families in her busy private practice, as well as over four years working for WIC in Sacramento. Finally, in 2013, she earned certification as a Clinical Hypnotherapist, and specialises in hypnotherapy for fertility. In between times, she keeps her skills sharp and updated by attending and presenting at various workshops and events.
