These resources, lists and suggestions are meant for moms who just had a Cesarean and who are NOT pregnant yet. As educators – we would like you to find this list after you have settled in with your new baby – anywhere from 8 weeks to 6 months after birth. We are trying to get this list to you BEFORE you get pregnant again because there are some things on this list that you can only do when not pregnant(steaming, scar tissue remediation). Early information is always better because you have more choices available for your next baby’s birth. We have (2) VBAC specialists who can help you navigate your choices/options and guide you through the process if you live out of state etc.

Where Do I Start?

Post Cesarean/Pre- Next Pregnancy To Do List:

  • Find out when your open enrollment is for your insurance
  • Choose a HIGH VBAC rate/LOW cesarean rate/Family centered cesarean provider
  • Your local hospital C-section rates matter – really take time with this choice
  • Research VBAC trained doulas – get references, talk to moms they have helped
  • Research normal birth focused class for your next pregnancy (Out of Hospital class)
  • Research local VBAC classes – if there is nothing in person – enroll in one online
  • Start processing your previous pregnancy and cesarean – THIS is key to having a better birth experience next time
  • Join local ICAN chapter online and in person (ICAN is the International Cesarean Awareness Network). Join now. This is some of the best woman to woman support you can find in your area. www.ican-online.org

Physical Healing

  • Heal laying down for 40 days/4th trimester
  • PostPartum Doula up to 3 months PP
  • Physical Therapy for Pelvic Floor
  • Scar tissue work
  • Steaming for clearing and getting cycles on a normal rhythm
  • Chiropractic Care(be sure to get your baby adjusted from their birth)
